The border tower is located southwest of the town of Lenzen on the ferry dam, along a circular route through the dike relocation areas. The former watchtower now serves as a tourist information and vantage point over the Elbtalaue in the four-country corner. An outer steel spiral staircase leads to the roof. Inside the tower plaques remind of the history of the border. The flora and fauna of the region is also explained. Right next to the tower is a ferry crossing that is over 500 years old. The history of the ferry connection between Brandenburg and Lower Saxony is considered a symbol of the growing together of the transnational Elbe region.

The old GDR watchtower now functions as a lookout tower. From the tower you have a great view of the Elbe and the surrounding area.

From the old GDR border tower you have a great view of the Elbe and Elbe valley. There are also permanently installed binoculars on top of the tower. The former guard room and the roof of the tower can be reached via a metal spiral staircase attached to the outside of the tower. The old border tower is located directly at the ferry landing stage at Lenzen (Lenzen-Pevestorf ferry).

The tower is located on the Brandenburg section of the Green Belt on the former inner-German border. An imposing landmark that can be seen from afar. The tower was largely left in its original condition and was designated a National Natural Monument in 2022. Visitors can access it via an attached external spiral staircase, thus transforming the former border tower into an observation tower.
