Far away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the Baltic Sea, there is nature here and also a place to swim. The path along the lake is very easy to cycle on, even if it is quite narrow for oncoming cyclists. So please be careful around the blind bends.

The Pönitzer See is located near Scharbeutz or Haffkrug. For a hike or bike ride through the Petersberger forest always recommended. A break in the country inn in Pönitz am See is only recommended.

The Great Pönitzer Lake (often just called "Pönitzer Lake") is a lake in the municipality of Scharbeutz - southeast of Pönitz - in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein. The village of Pönitz am See is located directly on its northern shore, and the village of Klingberg is located on its southern shore.

When I see this lake, I don't need the sea anymore, you would think, given the three beautiful inland waters in the hinterland of Scharbeutz.

The small and large Pönitzer lakes as well as the Taschensee offer a great change from the lively beach life - there is plenty of space for cycling, swimming and fishing experiences.

The small lake district, located a few kilometers inland, is beautifully embedded in a moor and forest landscape. With its gentle, hilly fields and rich forests, the region is ideal for hiking, jogging, Nordic walking or simply a short, leisurely stroll.

If you don't want to miss out on the wet element here inland, no problem: pack your swimming trunks, because there are two water access points on the Great Pönitzer lake that invite you to swim - the bathing jetty at the spa guest house and the Klingberg am See bathing establishment with the beautiful café and the DLRG station. Idyllic and far from the hustle and bustle, you can enjoy a relaxing day of swimming in the countryside.
