Towards the end of the 19th century, the fortifications were demolished and the castle was rebuilt into its present form by the famous architect Prof. K.A. Heideloff. For generations, nature-conscious owners have not only tended and cared for the castle park, but have also planted it with trees and shrubs, some of which are exceptionally rare. Experts will immediately recognize the unique plant diversity! Despite all efforts, this biodiversity is severely threatened by environmental influences; many trees have been killed in storms in recent years. Not all of the lost trees and shrubs, however, were victims of the forces of nature; much damage was also caused by the carelessness of visitors to the castle park. We have set ourselves the goal of preserving this park as a place of peace and encounter, not only for present but also for future generations.
