Shortly after the Ponte Vecchio, an easily walkable path begins, which always leads along the Toscolano stream into the Valle delle Cartiere. Paper has been made from rags in the valley since at least the 14th century. At the beginning of the 17th century there were around 60 paper mills there. Almost brought to a standstill by the plague, production experienced a new upswing at the beginning of the 18th century, until it finally came to an end with industrialization. The last paper mill closed in 1962. The path leads along the ruins of the buildings. There are many display boards (also in German) with information about the buildings, the history and the flora.

One of the buildings houses a museum and there is a small café. The path through the valley is very beautiful and there is a lot to see.
