The Tegelsee lido, originally [1] and still occasionally referred to as the Tegeler See outdoor pool or Tegel lido, is a public bathing establishment in the Tegel district of Berlin's Reinickendorf district. It was closed in 2016 and has reopened since June 2021.
The lido is located on the west bank of the Tegeler See in the Tegeler Forest, opposite the island of Lindwerder and between the peninsula Reiherwerder in the north and Tegelort in the south. The summer pool was opened in 1933 after a sandy beach had been filled up and has been managed by the Berlin pool companies (BBB) since 1996, if it has been leased in the meantime.
Four years after the expiry of the operating license for the bathroom, the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (BBB), together with the state-owned Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM), found a new operator with the New Neighborhood / Moabit e.V. The use was secured by the BIM with a heritable building right for 40 years.
The operating concept has been fundamentally changed, charitable status, youth work, recreation and culture are now in the foreground.
The site was restored to a usable state in winter 2020/2021 by volunteers.
The bathroom resumed operation at Pentecost 2021.
