A similar route in this area is now one of our favorite hikes.
The route is a circular hike, starts in Freistadt at the parking lot of the district administration (near the brewery), past the brewery and a little further on turn left into Sankt Peter Straße, up the way of the cross to the church of Sankt Peter (very beautiful church with the All Saints Chapel next to it) .
Turn right from St. Peter-Straße (the Gasthaus Brunngraber is located nearby), then towards Dreißgen, but we leave this village on the left and continue to walk to the village of Vierzehn.
Cross Prager Straße and continue to the asphalted Helbetschlag street.
The asphalt road continues for a while before it joins a forest path.
Between Teufelsfelsen and Feldaist, it goes down to the Thuryhammer open-air museum (sometimes Schauschmieden) and on to the foothills of Freistadt.
Cross the B38, under the S10 (Mühlviertler Schnellstraße) and parallel the Feldaist into the Obere Hafnerzeile.
Turn right and follow the L579 (Oswalder Straße) for about 35 meters, then turn left towards Schloss Freistadt, through Schloßhofstraße to the main square with Marienbrunnen.
Turn right through Pfarrgasse to Eisengasse (left), through Linzer Tor and across the promenade to the starting point of the hike.
There are plenty of places to stop for a break.
The lap is approximately 12.2 km.
From the beginning, up to St.
The hike is without any particular difficulties, you just need some time to rest and admire nature.
Have lots of fun with it.
