Motors were manufactured and tested on the MMW grounds, among other things for fighter aircraft, in addition to smaller aircraft accessories. Engines and accessories were used partly in the closer environment (ERLA works in Leipzig-Thekla) for aircraft construction. But other aircraft factories in Germany were also supplied. At peak times, around 12,000 JUMO 205 (Diesel) and 211 JUMO 205 engines were built in the factory every year and a considerable number were overhauled.

The water of the nearby pond and the Parthe was used during the tests to cool the aggregates. In some of the large halls, the aircraft engines were tested for their performance, sometimes beyond the limit of load capacity.

During the Second World War several attempts were made to destroy the plant. Only in 1944 was it possible to destroy the MMW almost completely. On 07.07.1944 a bomb attack took place, which destroyed parts of the factory. However, part of the administration building and the flying school withstood the attack and were only slightly damaged. A rebuilding of the work was not worthwhile. In Zwickau a provisional replacement work was found, which was only partially suitable.

At the end of the Second World War, the area was initially not used. The surrounding settlements used some of the rubble to rebuild their homes. After that, the MMW terrain was largely left to its own devices. It developed over time a relatively large forest area.

Years later, this area was probably used by the GDR for training and further training of army forces and then used as an alternative management center and ammunition material depot of the BDVP Leipzig. The former aviation school was rebuilt into a retirement home. The administration building used as a civil defense training center. After 1990, the THW used the administration building for a short time. After that, the building and grounds were used until 2006 as a foreigners dorm.
