The Schreckbichl Winery, founded in 1960, is one of South Tyrol's younger wine cooperatives. It was founded by 26 winegrowers seeking greater independence and named the winery after their hometown of Schreckbichl (Colterenzio). These winegrowers were pioneers who immediately focused on high quality. Today, 300 winegrowers continue this path, cultivating 300 hectares of vineyards in one of South Tyrol's best wine-growing regions.

14 different grape varieties are cultivated, with red wines accounting for 35 percent of production and white wines the rest. The winery places great emphasis on sustainability, both in the vineyard through environmentally friendly cultivation and hand-picked grapes, and in the winery, which is largely powered by green electricity. In addition, a significant portion of the energy needs are covered by photovoltaic systems, solar panels, and a heat recovery system. The newly renovated winery features an elegant tasting room and a wine shop.

Perfect for a short uphill or downhill bike ride. Wine connoisseurs will appreciate a stop at the Schreckbichler or one of the other Girlan wineries. After all, the village has almost as much space underground as it does above ground.
