The fine, white manor house on the Mecklenburg shore of the Bay of Lübeck welcomes its guests with the words, "I built it with God's grace. May God, the Protector, be kind to the one who built it."

The neoclassical manor house, dating from 1745, was built in a truly incomparable location with a box-office view of the Baltic Sea. Here, the land is vast, nature is strong, the beach is natural, and the sea is endless. The pristine landscape provides strength and tranquility: pure freedom.

On the graceful three-story manor house, the coats of arms of three noble families are mounted in relief on the courtyard-facing long front. In the center, the von Booth coat of arms, you can see a mastless boat

in the sea under a cloudy sky. Not without reason, for according to legend, a knight found himself in distress during a severe thunderstorm. He swore, if he survived the storm, to build three villages.

He survived, landed in Schwansee, called himself (nomen est omen) "Booth"

and fulfilled his promise: He founded the towns of Brook, Hohen Schönberg, and Kalkhorst, where he had a church built around 1230. The builder of the castle in Groß Schwansee is a descendant of Wilhelm Ludwig Hartwig von Booth.

The castle complex remains almost exactly as it was before.

The castle pond, once surrounded by linden trees, is also still there.

Ice was cut from it in winter to cool milk and meat in the icehouse during the summer.

There are three artesian springs on the estate grounds.

One provided drinking water for the castle residents, another for the animals.

The springs were constructed as wells, whose pipes ensured the water supply.

The striking red building to the left of the castle was once a horse stable, later a coach house. Today, renovated in keeping with its historical heritage, it houses the "Brasserie" with its Mecklenburg specialties, a large hall, and a wellness area with saunas and beauty treatments.

In addition to the manor house with its park and stables, the estate in Groß Schwansee also included a caretaker's house, day laborers' cottages, a forester's house, a blacksmith's shop with a pub, a school, a coachman's house, and a fisherman's cottage.
