      Rudi, who, as a child, brought all kinds of prey he had killed into his mother's kitchen and didn't understand why she didn't want to bread his earthworms...

      And Evi, who used a lot of imagination and talent to cook food for the guests at her parents' inn as a child... she would definitely have created a suitable recipe for his earthworms back then.

      And maybe that's exactly why they found each other. And that was more than 40 years ago.

      Today the two of them are the heart of “Wein&Gut Rathbauer”, with which they have fulfilled a lifelong dream: wine, enjoyment and cosiness.

      But let's start at the beginning of the story...

      In 2001 they started their excursion into gastronomy with a small Heurigen in Kottingbrunn: Rudi and Evi went to school in winemaking, invented new imaginative cooking recipes and went on the search for unique armchairs, tables and plates in order to offer their guests something unique . And this with success.

      The lovingly designed and managed wine tavern soon became an insider tip.


      But Rudi's passion for adventure and, above all, his secret passion for building led her to take new paths despite her great success.
      In 2006, the two started building their country house in one of the most beautiful places in the area, along the Wiener Neustädter Canal, where they were able to combine the impressions from all their travels into one large dream house.

      Flooded with light, spacious, Mediterranean, playful and homely at the same time - with a wide variety of flea market furniture, travel souvenirs and personal items from many passing cyclists who followed the construction for over 5 years, the “Wein&Gut – Weingut Rathbauer” was created.

      These cyclists became regulars. And they became friends. Like most of their old and new guests. And that's what's most important to them.

      “Wein&Gut Rathbauer” is not just a restaurant, it is the extended living room of Rudi and Evi. It's like your home and you feel like you're spending your Sunday afternoon with friends. And the nice thing is, it's always Sunday for them.
