The place was first mentioned in documents in 1228. Possibly even earlier. The 850th anniversary was celebrated in 2023.

If you drive towards Eichholz from the direction of Zerbst, you can see the tower of the fieldstone church from afar. Even if you leave the Steckby-Lödderitzer Forest, you can see the tower. Eichholz is a good 2 kilometers from the Elbe cycle path.

The church has a mighty cross-bar tower in the west and a semicircular apse in the east, which is framed from floor to ceiling by stained glass windows designed by the renowned artist Johannes Schreiter. The left window symbolizes the birth of Christ, the right window the resurrection. Eichholz is part of the Lichtungen church art project, in which old windows in need of renovation in village churches are replaced with contemporary stained glass windows designed by artists.

You enter the church through a portal on the north side or through a recently reopened medieval portal from the south. The church was about to be demolished in the early 1990s. The church was repeatedly worked on and renovated for over 30 years. The roof and roof truss were completely removed, the eastern part of the church, which had already been renovated in the 19th century, was demolished and replaced in 2017 due to dilapidation.

Today, the simple, room-high and semicircular apse, framed by the windows, closes off the church to the east. The baptismal font is medieval, the altar, lectern and candlestick, the so-called principal pieces, were made in 2019 by the sculptor Till Hausmann from oak beams from the historic roof trusses, but also contain younger wood.
