The Ravensberg is located in the Harz Mountains in the Harz Nature Park. It rises about 3.5 km northwest of Bad Sachsa, about 4.5 km east of Bad Lauterberg and about 4.5 km (each as the crow flies) southwest of Wieda.

The 660-meter-high Ravensberg is a striking and towering mountain in the southern Harz northwest of Bad Sachsa. It originated from a volcano of the late Erdaltertums about 300 million years ago. Today, however, there is no longer any connection to the glowing rocks of the Earth's interior.
You have a wonderful panoramic view from above.
At the summit there is a 64 meter high tower. This was built together with the preceding structure in 1970 and served in the time of the "Cold War" the western intelligence services as a listening station. Today, a telecommunications service provider uses the partially vacant building complex.
