The Weilburg Shipping Tunnel is the oldest and longest navigable ship tunnel in Germany. 1] It passes under a length of 195 meters the Mühlberg, on which the city Weilburg is located, from north to south, thus avoiding a two-kilometer-long arch of the Lahn with two weirs. The tunnel was built between 1844 and 1847 and today forms, together with the parallel road and rail tunnels, the so-called Weilburg tunnel ensemble.

A highlight on every canoe tour. The shipping tunnel near Weilburg is the only one of its kind in Germany. At the end of the tunnel there is a double lock before you get back to the natural course of the Lahn.

If you paddle through the tunnel, you will notice that at 195 meters it is the longest shipping tunnel in Germany and is very old and musty (built 1844 to 1847).
