Mönchsondheim is a so-called Gaden church castle - this means that there are smaller buildings on the inside of the fortification wall, in which the harvest was previously secured, especially in times of war. The choir tower church built within the fortification, today an evangelical parish church, dates from the late 17th century.

The ensemble can be considered “one of the most important and best preserved facilities in Franconia” (Georg Dehio).

For more than thirty years, the Gaden have served as rooms for a museum: four permanent exhibitions deal with the subjects of viticulture, handicrafts, the history of the church castles and life in the village.

But also outside the church castle there are other museum buildings in the village with interesting exhibits - among other things you can visit a grocer's shop and an original school from 1927.
