Angenstein Castle is a medieval castle from the 13th century. Angenstein was always of strategic importance as the "outpost" of Basel and for the control of the Jura region. Over the centuries it went into very different hands, even the Swedes had once occupied the castle. It also burned down several times. In 1984 it burned in the castle for the last time. From 1988 to 1991 it was completely renovated and made habitable. The chapel and some social rooms could also be restored. The hall can be rented for weddings.

Angenstein Castle can be seen on a rocky outcrop between Aesch and Duggingen and is clearly visible.

Beautiful castle, which is privately inhabited (rental apartments) and houses a well camouflaged bunker from the second world war. If you look closely, you can see where the fake facades (only painted) are from the street😉
