The wild and romantic Offensee is in many ways the perfect place for a hiking break. There is a snack station directly on its bank that caters to hungry hikers (salzkammergut.at/oesterreich-gastronomie/detail/430000673/jausenstation-seeau-am-offensee.html=). In addition, the water offers a wonderful refreshment on hot summer days. And of course you can also eat your own provisions with this view.

The Offensee is a mountain lake in the Upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut. The trapezoidal lake has a maximum length of 960 m and a maximum width of 850 m. The surface is about 57 hectares, the average depth is 19 m.

Character: Demanding mountain tour with exposed and secured areas; do not go in fog or snow! Rest options: Restaurant and snack station at Offensee, Rinnerhütte High above the Offensee, the Dead Mountains are at their most lively side: larches and stone pines conjure up a true park atmosphere, mountain water gurgles through a miniature gorge between gentian and alpine rush and finally the remote Wildensee glistens in the sun. You could stroll through this little paradise for hours, but after all, a stop in a cozy mountain hut is waiting for you. If you want to look at all of this from a bird's eye view and also experience the karsts in the Dead Mountains, climb the rocky and lonely towering Rinnerkogel - the view from the summit is definitely worth the sweat. From the parking lot at Offensee we walk along the forest road along the east bank. Always following the marking 212 and the signs to the "Rinnerhütte", you get to Moosbründl at the head of the Seeau valley. Soon the path becomes steeper and winds up over countless serpentines and steps through the steep slope next to the waterfall wall. Via an aluminum staircase to the Rinnerboden (source), then through a dump of rubble and a gently rising high valley to the Rinnerhütte (Rinnerstüberl). Continue next to the stream until the path forks: straight ahead you come to a rocky saddle, behind which lies the hollow with the small Wildensee lake. In the saddle, path 231 branches off to the right in the direction of Rinnerkogel. It soon meets the path that leads up directly from the Rinnerboden and on which we climb left to the Rosskogelgrube. In steep serpentines and between mountain pines and sinkholes, continue to the Rinnersattel, there turn right and over the stony western slope to the summit cross. The descent is on the same route.

Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed at the public bathing areas - whoever wants to understand, I won't ... Still a tip because the lake is beautiful and starting / ending the tour on its shore is also allowed with dogs (Yeah! Great!) and has something;)
