The Kalbach is a 5.4 km long right and northern tributary of the Nidda in Hesse. The brook rises from the city of Oberursel. 3.6 kilometers of the further course of the stream including the mouth are in the urban area of Frankfurt am Main.

It rises at Oberursel-Bommersheim on the southern slope of the Taunus low mountain range. [4] The direction of flow of the water from the source to the mouth is predominantly from the northwest to the southeast. In Bommersheim, a few hundred meters of the course of the stream are piped. Behind Bommersheim, after almost three kilometers of flow through agricultural areas, he enters the Frankfurt city area northeast of the Frankfurt-Kalbach-Riedberg district - by crossing the Autobahn 5.

The stream flows through the historical core of the Kalbach village. About 750 meters east of the town center, the Kalbach flows from the right as its largest tributary to the Kätcheslach [4] - a ditch that serves to drain sealed areas in the Riedberg settlement (→ Kätcheslachpark). Then the Kalbach runs between the southwestern edges of the development of the Kalbach and Frankfurt-Bonames villages and other agricultural and horticultural areas. There he is accompanied for the distance of around one kilometer by the regional hiking trail Hölderlin-Path.
