The Höhenburg, located on a meadow above Harrbach, was once built by the Lords of Harrburg around 1100 and is closely linked to the history of Homburg. The lords of the Harrburg were probably the lords of the Hohenberg lords. The castle can be described as a fortified branch of the Homburg.

The ring of the castle complex had a circumference of approx. 36 x 40 m and was probably surrounded by deep trenches. The east and west ditches are still visible today. The depth varies between 2 and 6 meters.

In 1469 ownership changed to Prince-Bishop Rudolf von Scherenberg (Diocese of Würzburg) and in 1525 the castle was destroyed in the Peasant War.

In 1909 Dr. Hessler in his work "Castles and Palaces in Lower Franconia" walls, door and window arches.

Afterwards, the residents of Harrbach used the remains as a quarry, removed them almost completely, and used the stones to build the barn and barn.

Today you can still find foundation walls, the entrance area of the gate building and the remains of the moat.

The castle was built around 1100 by the Lords of Harrburg, who were probably the employers of the Lords of Homburg (Gössenheim).

In 1469, the Bishopric of Würzburg, under Prince Bishop Rudolf von Scherenberg, acquired the village of Harrbach and the castle, which was destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525.

Around 1900, the castle was demolished as a quarry down to the foundation walls and today, after excavations, the foundation walls, the entrance area of the gate building and the moat can still be seen.
