The Swedish Tower is located on the southwest side of the island of Mainau, near the wine trail and the arboretum.

"1558" is written above the entrance to the tower. This leads to the assumption that the slender Sweden Tower was built in the 16th century as a watchtower towards the mainland. However, the pyramid roof and the wood paneling date from the 19th century. The coat of arms of the Teutonic Order and Commander Georg von Gemmingen can also be found on the tower. During the Thirty Years' War, Swedish troops occupied the island and stole everything except for a cross (Swedish cross).

Although it was built much earlier, the name Swedish Tower derives from the two-year occupation by the Swedish troops from 1647 to 1649.
