Worth a visit in every season. The tour can be run well through the "expanded" paths. As a wildlife and nature photographer, the Meißendorfer Teiche are really great. No matter whether cormorants or swans, countless bird species can be observed and photographed here. With a little luck, I could even watch the sea eagle one or two times.

In the winter time it can also happen that the main pond is drained, which means that it can also be found at dusk, e.g. Watch deer or wild boar.

Then simply over to Gut Sunder and end the day with a piece of homemade cake.

The Meißendorfer Teiche and the southern Bannetzer Moor await you with superlatives in terms of species and habitat diversity:

Visitors can walk through Lower Saxony's most important pond area for nature conservation, and at the same time it is one of the most important otter habitats in Lower Saxony. Many are familiar with the Meißendorfer Teiche mainly because of their species-rich breeding bird world and as a resting area for migratory birds.

Classically, you get to know the area with the 60 ponds on a 5 km loop around Lake Hüttensee and another 4 km through the Meissen lowlands.

Walked this trail twice. Once in September 2018 and once in March 2021. In spring many of the reed belts were cut down radically, which had the advantage that you had a clearer view of the water, but in autumn I liked it better because of the naturalness. I cannot say whether the step backwards will be carried out every winter.

The Meißendorfer ponds or Bannetzer Moor has an area of approx. 815 HA.

Pond management began here around 1881 and consisted of 51 ponds.
The ponds are channeled from the Meiße, which flows into the Aller near Hodenhagen. Between the 1960s and 1970s, however, fish farming was largely stopped again.

However, this huge area is now the largest water landscape in the Lüneburg Heath, where a corresponding number of birds have their nesting and resting places.
