It belongs to the parish of Landsberg in the parish of Halle-Saalkreis of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and since the profanation of the Roman Catholic chapel in Hohenthurm Castle it has also been used as a place of worship for the current parish of St. Mauritius and St. Elisabeth Halle-Mitte as a place of worship for the Hohenthurm curacy used.

The church with the address An der Kirche is dedicated to St. Nicholas. With the western transept and the eastern apse, it is a church building typical of the area. The church was built in the year 1200. With the later additions, sacristy and porch, and conversions, care was taken to ensure that the church retained a uniform appearance.

Remarkable inside are both the pulpit with late Renaissance forms and the romantic organ by August Ferdinand Wäldner with II/13 on mechanical slider chests, which is completely original.
