The moated castle Bladenhorst dates back to the 16th century. The moated castle blends harmoniously into the landscape and the eye is delighted by this old castle complex. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking and exploring. The Rhine-Herne Canal is not far from the moated castle.

If you're in the area or the route passes by, you can take a look at the castle from the car park and the street to see it, but it's a worthwhile destination. The castle is inhabited and privately owned, so not to be visited and forbidden to enter, except for events. A complete tour and visit from the outside is also not possible. We like to use as a casserole point from the back through the fields, if the group has pulled apart before it goes on the road again.

The castle is first mentioned in documents in 1266. The plant originally consisted of four wings. The fortified gatehouse is the oldest part of the complex, the chapel dates back to 1332 (demolition 1941). The castle in the style of the late Renaissance dates from the years of reconstruction from 1530 to 1584 and is inhabited. Since the castle is privately owned, there are no guided tours or visits.
