Well worth the detour off the main road- one fo the highlights of my trip was this stretch. If I had know this hut was out here I would definitely have made the plan to stay. Stunning scenery and a true sense of Icelandic remoteness.

I don't know which road the author took, but to get there I traveled among the worst roads in Iceland. Starting from Pigvellir to get to Geysir, it was tremendously hard. Perhaps there are easier ways, for me it is to be avoided
