The famous energy community Zwentendorf
Austria's only commercial nuclear power plant was built in Zwentendorf - but due to a referendum in 1978 it was never put into operation. Today, the power plant and the Dürnrohr waste incineration plant as well as the country's first bioethanol plant are operated in the energy community. The nuclear power plant, which never went into operation, is visited on guided tours or used for events.

Zwentendorf on the Danube is a market town and is located about 30 kilometers west of Vienna. Although it is not a classic health resort, the community offers various options. A popular bathing lake invites you to swim in the summer and numerous cycle paths lead through the idyllic landscape along the Danube. Cultural sights such as a historic church and the remains of a Roman fort also make the place exciting for history buffs. A special attraction is the nuclear power plant, which was never put into operation and is now used for tours and events.
