The privately run Ruhrtalbahn runs on public holidays and on Sundays from May to October between Hagen Hbf. And the Eisenbahnmuseum Bochum. The Ruhr Valley Railway operates a rail bus and a steam engine with the appropriate wagons on this route.

Possible stations for a combined cycle / train tour to the industrial monuments are the Nachtigall colliery in Witten, the Henrichshütte in Hattingen and the railway museum in Bochum.

A bike ride on the train is possible, with groups only with advance notice.
