The Sankt Wigberti monastery is an ecumenical Benedictine monastery. It can be viewed by arrangement. If you want to stay longer, you can even spend the night there, because there are also guest rooms in the monastery.

The monastery, which was founded within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia, as well as the church bears the name of St. Wigbert. The community includes Protestant and Roman Catholic men. At times there are also Orthodox brothers living there. Four times a day prayers are given. In 1987, the Rule and the Order were approved by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia as the first Benedictine monastery after the Reformation in Germany (Wikipedia).

Small ecumenical monastery with church and chapel and very friendly religious men. Some guest rooms available, dinner and breakfast are also offered. We spent the night in a tent under trees in the former cemetery. We liked it very much.

Hikers and cyclists can stay overnight here at reasonable prices. Meals are provided. The welcome is very warm and welcoming. Anyone cycling the Unstrut Cycle Path should definitely stop here.

Should you come across dogs while visiting the monastery, be careful! Although I was on a leash, the smaller one bit me. There were even two monks present.
Instead of an apology, there were reproaches ("You are not allowed in there." - I didn't want to go anywhere, I just wanted to take the recommended tour.) And excuses ("We can't do the dogs more than leash!" that they cannot reach visitors if they stay on the paths.)
