The Rheydt Castle is a Renaissance moated castle on the Lower Rhine and an important monuments of Mönchengladbach in the same district.
Schloss Rheydt is not only a museum, but also a place of many different events and activities. Events such as the pottery market, the summer music, the knight festival, arts and crafts in Advent, the garden world and the autumn festival have their permanent place in the annual program. But there are also many other historically or culturally inspired events, such as regular readings, lectures and courses, castle concerts and more.

The current appearance of the three-part system (Torburg, Vorburg, Haupthaus) is largely due to construction work from the years 1558 to 1570. The then castle lord Otto von Bylandt had entrusted Maximilian Pasqualini (1534–1572), son of the Italian master builder Alessandro Pasqualini.
