The Glaswaldsee is located in the middle of a nature reserve and is in a fantastically idyllic and quiet location. The water is dark in color due to its subsoil of red sandstone and its acidity. The lake is wonderful for swimming and cooling off. The bids of the nature reserve must be observed, so you should refrain from having a barbecue or camping. The wildly romantic and mystical atmosphere around the lake make it a unique destination.

In front of the parking lot it is 1.1 km to walk to the Glaswaldsee, it is quite an uphill climb but the lake is very idyllic and there is a wonderful atmosphere, provided the people in the area are calm.

An ice age glacier carved this Karsee out of the red sandstone. It was once used by the raftsmen as a swell pond to use the dammed water to wash the felled trunks down to the valley. Due to its unspoilt nature, the Glaswaldsee is one of the most wonderful, clear blue eyes in the Black Forest. The name of the lake comes from a glassworks that, together with a hamlet, stood in the Seebach valley in the 17th century. In earlier times, glass was made there for the bottles of the Rippoldsauer Sauerbrunnen.

In the hope to find water here a 35km stage inserted. Unfortunately, the water of the lake is inedible. Behind the lake on a forest road, trickle down some fresh water, after filtering it was good drinkable.

An ice age glacier carved this cirque lake out of the red sandstone. It once served as a swell pond for raftsmen to use the accumulated water to wash the felled logs down into the valley.
Due to its untouched nature, the Glaswaldsee is one of the most beautiful, clear blue eyes in the Black Forest. The name of the lake comes from a glassworks that stood in the Seebachtal valley in the 17th century along with a hamlet. In earlier times, glass was produced there for the bottles of the Rippoldsau Sauerbrunnen.
