In May 2016 it was demolished to make way for a new, modern mountain hut. The concept of the wood-clad, cube-like building called Barlume comes from the young architect duo Oliviero Piffaretti and Carlo Romano from Mendrisio. In the basement there is a restaurant with 60 seats with a large fireplace and a large window front, so that the exceptionally beautiful Alpine panorama can be enjoyed both from inside and from the large outdoor terrace. The new Capanna Monte Bar offers sleeping accommodation for 42 people, seminar rooms for 20 people and a small workshop for bikes.

The hut is in a great location and quite luxuriously equipped. The price for a double room with half board is steep at CHF 120 per person and actually not justified. In the off-season you should therefore book a multi-bed room, as you will often be alone in it. The 3 course dinner was really good. Breakfast not very varied for the price. Quite expensive hut, which follows the trend towards more comfort in the huts.
