Around the place various legends entwine.
So on August 10, 1661, the innkeeper at Eckersmühlen, Hermann Feyl, is said to have met the devil there. Out of nowhere, the corporal in a Landsknecht uniform and red cloak is said to have faced him. The devil offered Feyl a thaler for his blood. Feyl declined, whereupon the devil disappeared with a big clamor - not without losing a golden button of his coat. Feyl fled and was repeatedly afflicted with delusions in the following years. Since this event the place is called "Devil's Knob", "Devil's Knock" or "Devil's Knot".

Unfortunately there is not much left to see of the castle complex, but a short detour to this legendary place is still worthwhile.
