This is the southern beginning of the Los Angeles Aqueduct. The Pacific Crest Trail walks along for around 20 miles. Since it is a very hot and dry stretch in the Mojave Desert, most hikers hike this section at night. You will avoid the heat and save some precious water doing so.
Do not camp along the aqueduct. There might be traffic at night.
