The art object: "Wanderer am Jakobsweg" stands at the roundabout near Unterölsbach and was made of copper sheet. The Upper Palatinate-Franconian Way of St. James runs for about 170 km from Tillyschanz / Eslarn on the Czech border via the Upper Palatinate Forest to Schwandorf and from there through the Franconian Jura to Sindlbach near Berg, and then to the south of Nuremberg into other Way of St. James. The "Star Trail" to the Tomb of the Apostle James the Great Ä. is one of the most popular pilgrimage routes in Europe. Declared the cultural heritage of mankind in 1988, the Jakobusweg leads countless pilgrims to the northern Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela. “Peregrinatio”, the poet Dante called this stream of people, who followed the course of the sun and the stars, on pilgrimage. A network of pilgrimage routes has sprung up over thousands of years and extends across the entire European continent.
