In addition to the botanical areas, there are also some animal enclosures to visit in the botanical garden. These are exclusively species and breeds that are not shown at Chemnitz Zoo.

In addition to farm animals such as geese, sheep and pygmy goats, owls, ravens and raccoons also live in special species-appropriate enclosures. Small rodents such as hamsters, mice and degus can be viewed in a separate building. A special attraction is the aquarium house, where amphibians, reptiles, insects and fish are housed.

The Botanic Garden Chemnitz was founded in 1898 on an area of one hectare, meanwhile it has grown to about 12 hectares. The open spaces show Central European plants and crops from around the world.
The greenhouse is home to 800 species of tropical plants, including pineapple and banana trees, coffee, cassava and vanilla bushes, orange and cola trees, rattan palms, taros and sisalagas. There are also Mediterranean species such as rosemary, oleander, olive, rockrose or cork oak as well as far eastern plants such as the loquat. The cacti and succulents are mainly from Mexico, but also from southern Africa and Madagascar. Finally, there is a collection of carnivorous plants such as sundew, Venus flytrap, fatty herbs or periwinkles. (Source Wikipedia)
