The name Notschrei sounds at first sight rather strange for a mountain pass. Wikipedia says the following: "Background of the naming is a" cry of the Todtnauer population to the Baden government in the 1840s, it was called for economic reasons, the connection of the upper Wiesental to the Breisgau.The road project between Todtnau and Oberried finally 1848 realized. "
I made the 1119 m high Notschrei from Freiburg in conjunction with the Kirchzarten and Schauinsland. 65 km round trip, which I coped very well without "cry for help".

The Notschei is a pass between Todtnau in the upper meadow valley and Kirchzarten in the Dreisamtal. The asphalt surface is impeccable, the actual pass height rather unspectacular.
