Kingman was built on a railroad siding in 1882 and is now at the crossroads of several major highways, making it a popular choice for tourists to stay overnight. This is where the famous section of Route 66 from Seligman to Kingman ends, which is now a well-developed country road, and the more charming part of the road begins again, the winding stretch over the Sitgreaves Pass.
