The Stuckenstein is the oldest memorial stone in the whole of Solling. It commemorates an accident on Ascension Day in 1585 - the son Arndt Stucken of the then head forester Hans Stucken died in the performance of his duties, probably by an accidentally fired shot from his service weapon. However, I have the feeling that the memorial stone is not only connected to the accident victim, but is also due to Mr. Papa's amazing CV. Within a few years, he managed to rise from assistant forester to "master hunter and chief forester on Solling" and was thus the superior of all foresters and hunters in the entire Solling. He served from 1562 until his retirement in 1599 and was still enjoying his retirement in 1611. Unfortunately, the son was less fortunate...
