A new maintenance plan has been successfully developed for the Unkenpfuhl in Kladow, near the Ritterfelddamm. The previous concept was decades old, but nature has continued to develop during these years.
The aim is to offer the rare amphibian species such as the crested newt, moor frog and garlic toad a permanent habitat with a large expanse of water, partially open soils and hiding places. This also benefits other endangered species, such as the whorl dancer, a very rare plant, the occurrence of which is restricted to the Unkenpfuhl all over Berlin!
2018:
In the past weeks and months, the Environment and Nature Conservation Office and the Road and Green Area Office together with the animal owners, contracted companies and the experts have carried out necessary clearing of the trees, an enlargement of the water surface, interception of fish brought in in the Unkenpfuhl and the new fence construction to do that to be able to implement adapted care.
2020: Unfortunately, I was unable to find out what was implemented from the plans on the Internet. Maybe the Komoot community knows more
