"... Around the time of the 11th century, the Sylvester chapel was built. The building, which was first mentioned in a document in 1397, experienced an eventful history. After it was first expanded in 1464 to become a branch church of the Catholic main parish of Bochum, it changed in the course of the Lutheran Reformation a Protestant church. Unfortunately, the manor house and Sylvester chapel were destroyed down to the outer walls by an air raid in May 1943. ..."
