The Strohner fairy tale (also called Strohner Maarchen) is a dry marsh near the village of Strohn. It is an elongated dry mare of about 210 x 140 m and belongs to the nature reserve "Pulvermaar with Römerberg and Strohner Märchen".

This dry maize is not a pure maar, but a small slag volcano: since its chimney was sloping, it spat out its slag to the north and a semicircular wall with the Römerberg was created. The crater wall is completely removed.

The crater lake formed quickly silted up and a raised bog formed, which is about to be silted up. The straw fairy tale is covered with a ten-meter-thick layer of peat, it offers a habitat for around 250 plant species and a large number of animals, such as the mother mother butterfly, the glossy rush juvenile and the spear azure damselfly.
In addition to its importance for palaobotany, stratigraphy, geology, plant sociology and life sciences, the straw fairy tale is certainly an excellent refuge for our native flora. As a raised bog located within a Maerkessel, like Mosbrucher Weiher, Dürres Maar and Mürmes it belongs to a natural phenomenon that is unique in Central Europe.
