The Gabelweiher, also known as Gabelhorst Weiher, is a 1.6-hectare lake in Espelkamp, in the Minden-Lübbecke district in East Westphalia. The lake is located immediately south of the Erlen elementary school and west of federal highway 239.
The Gabelweiher is not an officially designated swimming lake - the larger lake on Kleihügel just under 2 kilometers to the west of the town of Espelkamp is available for this. At the same time, the lake, as an area of water that can be reached quickly in the Espelkamp city center, is important as a recreation area and green lung for walks, joggers, etc. There is a 700 meter long walk around the lake. In the northern area of the lake there are two small, close together islands, which together are around 780 m² in size. The lake is surrounded by lawns and small forests. There is also a fairly large fountain in the northern part of the fork pond, which is operated in summer. The Gabelhorst, a forest area of around 4 hectares, is located 200 meters southwest of the fork pond.
