You will experience pure nature around the Mönchsteich. The lake is surrounded by a beautiful forest that stretches to the shore of the lake. The wildly overgrown east bank is also suitable for swimming. Here you will find secluded spots to relax and bathe in the water. Incidentally, the lake is particularly popular with friends of free physical culture.

The Mönchsteich is located in a very beautiful landscape with a few small free swimming areas. It is approximately 24 hectares and up to 2.9 m deep.
The lake is fed by the Großensee via the Stenzenbek - an artificial passage south of the Schleushörn restaurant. A hiking trail leads around the lake, but not directly along the lake in the north-western part, here is a well system from Hamburg Wasser, which is not publicly accessible. The lake is particularly popular as a bathing lake for nudists, but due to the shallow depth there are many plants in the water that can impair bathing.
