Junkerburg in Geyen
The Junkerburg - also called Junkerhof or Geyener Wasserburg - is a fortified complex that was originally accessible via a drawbridge. The present castle was built after a fire in 1664 on the foundations of an older plant. As early as the 14th century, Geyen had a knight's seat, the so-called "Tollho" (= Zollhof on the border between the territory of Cologne and Jülich). The "Lords of Geyen" sold this Tollhof to the Cologne patrician von Von Judde, who owned the Canishof in Geyen. After demolition of the "Tollhof" the Canishof was expanded by the lords of Judde to the fortified castle. This was a fief of the Cologne Cathedral Provost, which was administered by the noble family Von Judde. Over the centuries, the castle came as a fief of Cologne Cathedral Provost in the administration of various noble families. The castle had the function of a defensive refuge for the peasant population in times of war. At the end of the 18th century, the noble owners had the castle run by Halfen (tenants).

Since the mid-19th century, the castle is privately owned and may be visited on days of the open monument.
