Around halfway there is a very special place for hikers with the Donnelly River Village. The historic village was originally the home of the sawmill employees and the huts are now used by holidaymakers as accommodation. In addition there is a small general store with a café and the old school house has been converted into a simple bunkhouse. The greatest thing about Donnely River Village are the quasi-tame, free-living kangaroos, emus and parrots that flock to the streets and squares.
