On the stage to Peaceful Bay (towards the east), you have to overcome an approximately 150 meter wide estuary, the Irwin Inlet, with canoes. These are provided including paddles and life jackets on both sides and can carry two people with backpacks. To ensure that there is always at least one canoe on both sides (because hikers can come from both sides), you may have to tie two canoes together when crossing. The canoes are relatively unsteady, but depending on the wind and current, you have to paddle relatively hard. Paddling experience is not necessary for the crossing.
