"The church in Zehdenick is to be presented here. Already consecrated on September 15, 1901, it has been in use for almost 114 years. Since 2003 the congregation there has merged with the Herz Jesu Templin.
Around 1100 Catholics live in an area of 1300 km² with four places of worship (three of which are Carl Kühn's churches: Lychen, Mildenberg and Templin).

The Assumption Church is the oldest. A simple, single-nave, neo-Romanesque brick building with a portal tower. The architect was Wilhelm Daßler from Oranienburg, of whom three other churches are known between 1894 and 1901. These are Herz Jesu, Oranienburg (1894/95), St. Joseph, Velten (1895/96), St. Heinrich, Wittenberge (1897/98) and those in Zehdenick. All four are not only very close to one another in terms of time, but also stylistically and structurally. As far as I know, all four went back to the Catholic parish in Reinickendorf.

Under Pastor Krus (1924-37), the Assumption of Mary received a crucifixion group from around 1600. This came from the Erfurt area and is preserved to this day. In 1937 the chapel in Mildenberg was also consecrated.

When brickworks and peat cuttings emerged in the Zehdenicker area, inland shipping and the community grew. Before that there were already Catholic chapels in Templin or Lindow. The high number of Catholic seasonal workers from Poland was a reason for the establishment of a chapel (around 1894). Immediately afterwards a church building association was founded, one reason for the relatively quick achievement of the goal: an own church (1901). In the 1930s the community had 1,500 members. "
