The chapel is related to the Schoenstatt Movement founded near Koblenz in 1914. This wants a church of the future that will continue to lead people to Jesus Christ. This movement found numerous supporters in the First and Second World Wars. The narrow building near Saarwellingen was erected in 1950 by war returnees from today's street Zum Rotwäldchen.
Every year in May there is a procession of lights to the chapel.

Benches offer a shady resting place with a view over the fields, behind which the Saar polygon rises in the distance.
