"... The Deilbach is an approximately 21 km long tributary of the Ruhr that rises in Wuppertal-Barmen on the watershed between the Ruhr and Wupper. The estuary is in the area of the Ruhr dammed up to the Baldeneysee.

The Deilbachtal has geologically and historically a number of special features.

Above all, the natural resources of the valley offered the population, who lived from agriculture, the opportunity to improve their income. Hard coal, ores, sandstone and clay that are close to the surface and were mined early on have shaped the development and economy in the valley. The water of the Deilbach itself provided the energy to initially drive mills and hammer mills. The entire later history of energy production from wood, coal, electricity and nuclear power can be shown here in a small space.

The valley itself has always served as an important connection route for the transport of the goods and connection between the Ruhr Valley and Wuppertal/Solingen.

Numerous relics of the landscape and industrial history at the original site between Kupferdreh and Kidney Court bear witness to the agricultural, then commercial, mining and industrial use of the valley.

The mining of mineral resources, energy production and transport routes have led to the landscape being changed very early on. With the operation of the mills in the Middle Ages, straightening and relocation of the water courses began. Quarries and mining zones as well as the accumulation of heaps have changed the topography in the valley. Buildings and transport routes have been adapted to reflect the development of technology and take up large areas in the valley area. ..."
