Lindner lime tree

The Linner lime tree (in the Aargau vernacular, Lende vo Lenn) is a striking summer lime tree (Tilia platyphyllos) that stands near Linn on the municipality of Bözberg in the Swiss canton of Aargau.
With a height of 25 meters and a trunk circumference of eleven meters, it is considered the mightiest tree in Aargau. Legend has it that the linden tree was donated to commemorate the plague by one of the last remaining villagers. The plague raged in the village of Linn in the 16th and 17th centuries. Century particularly violent. The actual age of the linden tree is much older, it is assumed to be around 800 years.

The large linden "Linnerlinde" was supposedly planted during the plague season (16th century). Linn was first mentioned in a document in 1306. The linden has a trunk diameter of 25 m. The tree is considered the most powerful tree in the canton of Aargau.
