Lake Ümminger (Bochum)
In the footsteps of mining
The Ümminger See in Bochum is one of the gems in the area and is suitable for walks as well as a stopover for hikes or excursions with MTB or trekking bike.
At the last stage of the Harpener Bach before it flows into the Langendreerbach, lies the Ümminger lake. It is a popular excursion destination and offers amidst the Ruhr area, the original Klärtich the mining numerous recreational opportunities.
Strollers, hikers, cyclists and joggers will find an extensive network of trails around the lake - which is not even much larger than the Harpener ponds, but because of its geometry from the banks better visible so perceived - with plenty of seating and various recreational opportunities. A playground, a roller-skating rink, a model boat dock for electric RC boats, a half-pipe, sports equipment and sunbathing areas offer opportunities for various tastes, from sports activities, family vacations to nonstop lingering. Inline skaters have no ideal conditions here because of the rough but easy to walk paths.
