Planetariums are often confused with observatories because of their external similarity, but they are something completely different. The domed hall serves as a projection room, similar to a cinema. However, it is projected into the hemispherical dome, which often gives the visitor the impression of being in the middle of the action. Planetariums are mainly used to represent the starry sky. The planetarium is also available for a wedding on different dates.

SPACE PLANETARIUM
The space flight planetarium "Juri Gagarin" in Cottbus - named after Juri Alexejewitsch Gagarin (1934–1968), the first person in space - was opened on April 26, 1974 after almost two years of construction at today's Lindenplatz. Its dome with a diameter of 12.5 m offers space for 91 visitors. Planetarium technology allows a realistic starry sky to be displayed regardless of the time of day or season, geographical position or weather. However, it is also possible to leave the earth and get to practically any place in the previously known universe. Planetarium shows, but also lectures, concerts and theater performances take place regularly. Different programs can also be shown in other languages such as English or Polish.
